Gaylactic Outpost Atlanta serves a dual purpose as a special interest group of OutWorlders, Inc.

First, it plans room parties at conventions, such as Dragon*Con; organizes the OutWorlders' presence at fan tables at conventions and at Atlanta's annual Pride Celebration each June; and plans raffles and other fund-raising activities for OutWorlders. As part of these activites, the group also helps the OutWorlders Public Relations Coordinator with planning and producing print materials to be distributed at conventions and other places where potential new members may convene.

Second, Gaylactic Outpost Atlanta developed and submitted a bid to host Gaylaxicon 2007, and they succeeded! A subset of the group has become the Board of Directors for the Gaylaxicon 2007 Organizing Committee, and they are currently working on getting some spectacular guests, including a former starship captain, for the convention. The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel (165 Courtland Street) has been selected as the site of the convention, which is scheduled for October 5-8, 2007.

Gaylactic Outpost Atlanta meets the third Thursday* of each month at 8 p.m., with the Gaylaxicon 2007 Organizing Committee beginning its portion of the meeting at 8:20 p.m. If you are interested in getting involved, then please feel free to come to one of the meetings. April's meeting is at the home of Scott Tatum (2976 Briarlake Rd, Decatur, 30033).

The August meeting will be Aug. 19 at 6:00pm at Scott Tatum's house.

The Board scheduled a general meeting at the Convention hotel. This meeting would be in addition to the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The date for this special meeting is Sept. 8 at approximately 1:00-2:00pm. This will be confirmed with the hotel.
